Day Seven with Breanne

Today, on our seventh day with Breanne, we were honored to worship in a Christian church with precious Chinese believers. She did pretty good as long as I kept the snacks coming. After church, we did some shopping and came across to merchants that were Christian. It is truly amazing the bond believers have regardless of nationality or opportunity. Mike, Breanne and I want to wish Mommy D a very happy birthday. Hope you have a special day!!! We love You.
Blessings,
Tammy

Day Five

-sent 8:41 pm China time/7:41 am CST
We have had a very productive day and we are exhausted. This will be a short post, but in a nutshell, we met with our guide and did about an hour's worth of paper work. Then we headed back to the medical clinic where Breanne was previously tested for TB on Wed. Today's visit was to see how her skin reacted to the test. Thankfully her skin test was negative, another provision of the Father. We won't even go into all the red tape that has to happen in the worse case scenario if your child tests positive.

After the test, our guide took us and another family to a huge mall type shopping center. The experience was amazing yet overwhelming. I will include a few pictures but I don't think they will do the sea of faces justice. I have never seen so many people. We bought Breanne her set of pearls for her future wedding day, just like we have done for Baylee and Brooklyn on our first trip here. Our agency treated us to a traditional meal tonight and it was very nice and tasty. We enjoyed good food, good company and we soaked in the heritage of our daughter. Interestingly, our guide was able to tell us that Breanne speaks Cantonese, which she says is unusual for children from her orphanage, they usually speak Mandarin. This tells us that she has spent most of her time with a Cantonese speaking family, just another piece of her little puzzle...

Tammy

Day Four

-sent 7:32 pm China time/6:32 am CST
Today has been more of a restful day. We had only to fax some papers and the rest of the day was free. We shopped some and as we were out walking I put my sunglasses on, it was then that Breanne insisted on wearing my shades. She tried to keep them on her face but they were too big so we got a pair for her, which she wore proudly! We have met some of the neatest people from all over the world adopting. Some of the families are so inspiring Mike and I are just in awe of their courage. Most of these families are obvious believers. Included in today's pictures is a picture of Breanne meeting yet another little boy that she knew while we were eating at a restaurant last night. I tell you, it is so strange to see her react when she obviously knows one of these children. It seems too good to be true, but she is pointing and expressing herself in Chinese with conviction, so I went to the parents once again to ask the question and sure enough the little boy was from her orphanage. It is too cute!! Also included is a mini video of how she enjoys play time with daddy. Breanne's cough and throat infection are healing very well, as are the bites on her body. Thanks for all the posts and emails, we are receiving them and are thrilled to hear from each one of you!!! Looking forward to getting home, we are ready for you all to meet her in person, and we are ready to get our bodies back on U.S. time.
Lastly, I want to acknowledge how truly grateful I am to my mom. Thanks mom for giving up two weeks of your time to keep my kiddos, I just could not do this without you. My mom and dad are in the process of moving back to Shreveport so this is a huge sacrifice for her to carve this time out, yet she would never acknowledge that, Mom, I love you, and thank you for helping us follow this dream! Others are helping and we appreciate you all.Much Love,
Tammy

Day Three with our sweetie

-sent 7:26 pm China time/6:26 am CST

This has been a busy day, we have had Breanne's medical checkup, and her passport appointment at the police department. You can tell from the pictures I have included that she does not care to be checked out by people in white jackets.

At the police department she actually knew a little boy there. He came walking in and she just got so excited and pointed to him saying something in Chinese, so I went over to his dad and asked him where the little boy was from, and sure enough he was from her orphanage. That was pretty cool to see their interaction, so very cute. Also it was amazing to come across an actual child she knew because every child adopted in China must go through this process at that particular police department. Mike and I really enjoyed seeing her personality shine during that encounter.

Take note future China travelers, "DO NOT TAKE PICTURES IN THE POLICE STATION!" We did not know we weren't allowed to do that, and Mike got in trouble ( tee-hee). What I want to tell you about Breanne today is that she has made it so clear that she loves us and is completely fearful of being returned.
It is more than touching to understand that she is truly in turmoil when our guides approach us, or we go to a governmental office, she is so concerned and will just turn from them and not look at them while she cries. She wants to be physically touching at least one of her parents at all times, and most of the time it is with both of us at the same time. Very touching.

As soon as our business is done with our guide, medical technician, government official etc. ( whom she has ignored the whole time) and we are leaving, she suddenly becomes so bubbly waving bye and blowing kisses..they usually can't believe how she lights up upon leaving. Mike and I are just as head over heals with her, and we cannot wait to see her interact with our kiddos back at home. Speaking of our kiddos, we so miss them and can't wait to be all together. Thanks to everyone who is caring for them.

Love from China,
Tammy

Papers and Promises

-sent 7:40 pm China time/6:40 am CST

On this second day, we had to return to the adoption building where we received Breanne yesterday. Today was about signing papers and promising that we would never abuse, or abandon her. Another promise made required our that she will be given a good education. Returning to the adoption building really shut our little girl down, which is common. It is heartbreaking to see the fear and confusion in the little one's eyes, as they are scared that they are being returned. Our guide kept assuring her for us, but it did not seem to make a difference. When we left the building she perked up and happily waved good-bye. In fact, every store or Chinese establishment we go into, she shuts down and even cries if you try to show her a toy in a store. I think she is so scared she is going to be left. The second we head for the door, she is the happiest child in the world, blowing kisses to everyone in the store and happily declaring her good-byes.

This evening we took her to the hotel doctor because she has a bad chest cold and she has a strong infection smell from her mouth. You will notice a serious look on my face in one of our gotcha day pictures. This look was soon after I had received her and realized, our baby girl is very sick. It was a look of concern for her health. Mommy instincts kicked in immediately. I was a little sad for her because she was handed over to us very sick, with a huge goose egg on her forehead, and huge bug bites all over her. That baby needed her mommy and daddy and praise the Father she has a family who will now take her well being very serious. I can tell her foster mother cared for her and taught her well, but she had to be returned to the orphanage before the adoption, and it is there that I feel she was just another little one in a sea of needy faces. NO MORE!!! Despite her ailments, she is a happy little sweetie pie. I prayed that she would be able to receive love and give love to Mike and I, and I am so happy to report she is completely comfortable with both of us. That is a major blessing. She sleeps well and goes to the potty very well. She is strong-willed which is fine, because I have had to read Dobson's book (The Strong Willed Child) on more than one occasion, so we are ready for the challenge ( I think).

Enjoy the pictures that show Mike taking care of the bed time brushing last night, teeth and hair all in one sitting, that's my man!! Also there is a picture of Mike giving his baby girl her medicine, which she took like a trooper.
Blessings,
Tammy

BREANNE IS IN THE HOUSE!!!!!

-sent Monday 8:46 pm China time/7:46 am CST

We have had an amazing day!!! Receiving Breanne went very well, she cried only the length of time it took me to get the wrapper of her sucker and stick it in her mouth. There are so many ways that the Father blessed us today, and I am just too tired to go into the details right now, but I will tell you all about it in future posts, so the pictures will speak for themselves, I hope you enjoy.....She is pure joy!!!!! Thank you Father.

Made it to China!!!!

Hey friends,

We have made it safely to China. It was a very long but nice trip. The Father has shown us much favor thus far and we give the credit to him. Our arrival time at our hotel was around 7:00 am, so it was breakfast time. That is one of my favorite times at this hotel because it is the time that all the adopting families eat at the breakfast bar, and so I got to see so many happy families with their new children. Upon seeing a western family with an Asian baby, I would just break into tears of joy. Mike was trying to help me compose myself. I pray I never stop being amazed at the hand of love that is displayed in adoption. Tomorrow WE will be one of the families walking around with our blessing. Pray for our little girl that she will feel safe with us, not scared, that she will feel the love we want to give her. Many tears will be shed tomorrow as her care givers will give her away and she will loose a big part of her life. Even though it is the best for her, it doesn't make it any easier for all involved. I have been a foster mother only once, and I had the baby for one week. When the baby went to her new family, I thought I had lost a part of my heart, I grew to love her in that short amount of time. I can not imagine what Breanne's foster mother and orphanage workers must go through all the time. You might think they get hard toward it after awhile, but their tears prove otherwise. So please pray for these special women who love orphans until their forever families can come get them. The pictures are of us on the Chinese airline. Everyone should come to China just so they can experience the amazing treatment customers receive on China Southern airlines. You will never get this kind of treatment in the states.....it is A+
Thanks to all of our praying and supporting friends, we love you and can feel your prayers here. Oh and one interesting piece of info....When we arrived at our hotel our bags had to be searched. This is not the usual custom for this hotel. As we were checking in, the front desk worker apologized for the bag search, but explained that the hotel is under high security for a few days because the president of Pakistan is arriving to stay here today for about four days. Yes you read that right, the PRESIDENT OF PAKISTAN! So add "World Peace" to your prayers.

Love from China,
Mike and Tammy
